Join Emma Redfern of Hole House for a full day of sewing to create a beautiful Tote Bag.
A simple and elegant style bag, perfect for making in tweed and finished with leather handles. This is the perfect bag with which to start your bag making obsession!
Students will learn some great bag making techniques that will elevate basic, homemade bags to something far more professional looking. A pattern and full instructions will be provided, along with all specialist materials needed. We will cover essential things like pattern matching, using interfacing and interlining, how to insert a zipped pocket and magnetic snap closure. Students will need to bring their own fabric, sewing machine, scissors, pins etc. This class is suitable for those who can confidently use their sewing machine, but does not require any advanced sewing skills as each step will be fully explained in an informal and relaxed way.
Students are required to bring:
– A sewing machine in good working order
– A minimum of Half a meter outer fabric (tweed, canvas, something a bit heavier than quilt weight). If you have a fabric that requires tricky pattern matching, bring more if you can.
– Half a meter of a lining fabric (quilt weight, lawn etc)
– Matching thread
Please note there is a £20 material charge payable to the tutor on the day.
