We are excited to add a new Intermediate 4 week evening pottery series to our workshop calendar for 2023 with our resident potter Michelle Best.
This four-week course builds on skills of the one-day pottery workshop or those that have
some basic experience with throwing on the potter’s wheel.
As this is an intermediate course, the emphasis will be on refining the cylinder, learning new
shapes and trimming. We will discuss your expectations and any projects you would like to
focus on. We will make handles and in the last week there will be a chance to glaze one or
two of your pieces.
The first week will be throwing on the wheel followed by trimming and making/attaching
handles in the second week. In the third week we explore throwing bowls and plates. Week
four will be trimming and a chance to glaze one or two of your pieces from our in-house
glazes.
Your final eight pieces will then be fired and ready for collection at a later date.
Throwing on the wheel can be messy so wear old clothes and tie long hair back. Aprons will
be provided.
This evening series will run on the following consecutive weeks. Please note the first two weeks are Thursday evenings, the third week is a Tuesday and the final week is a Thursday evening:
Thursday 27th July: 6:30pm – 9:00pm (Week 1)
Thursday 3rd August: 6:30pm – 9:00pm (Week 2)
Tuesday 8th August: 6:30pm – 9:00pm(Week 3)
Thursday 17th August: 6:30pm – 9:00pm (Week 4)
This course is for over 16’s only.
