Join the wonderfully talented Hamish McLain for a morning of abstract painting! Hamish is a local artist who carried out a residency with us in November 2022.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and is designed to be a relaxed and fun introduction to abstract painting.
You will start the morning experimenting with a variety of techniques inspired by the Cumbrian Landscape, before moving on to work on a final small canvas, all with Hamish on hand to provide his expert guidance.
All Equipment will be provided and you will all go away with your own small canvas as part of the workshop.
Included in the cost of the workshop is tea and coffee throughout the session and cakes.

Hamish McLain’s practice explores the intersection between drawing and painting, investigating how a graphical sensibility can interact within the world of abstraction. In recent work he has been focusing on how the rural landscape of Cumbria can inspire his painting, connecting the dramatic scenery of the area with the language of abstraction.
